“Haseel Bhatt (a Movement Disorders Physiotherapist in Toronto) has put together this incredible resource on Freezing of Gait. If anyone out there struggles with movement, I can't recommend this course highly enough. It covers so much important ground that might just be able to give a person with a movement disorder the confidence they need to take that next step! ”
“I had the opportunity to go above and beyond for a patient experiencing significant freezing episodes by applying knowledge from a specialized Parkinson’s course developed by Haseel Bhatt. Through this course, I learned about the clock-turning strategy, which I then incorporated into my patient’s treatment. The results were remarkable. Not only did the clock method lead to noticeable improvement in his turning and a reduction in freezing episodes especially with turning, but it also significantly boosted his confidence during mobility tasks. I’m incredibly grateful for the insights gained from this course, and I want to extend a sincere thank you to Haseel for creating such a valuable resource. ”
“This course gave me a comprehensive toolkit to better support people with freezing of gait. What stood out was the range of practical strategies—it's not just about cueing techniques, but also how to adjust the home environment and personalize approaches based on each person's needs. I've already started using several of the strategies in my sessions, and it's made a noticeable difference.”
“When dealing with a large issue, it can be overwhelming and confusing. I think you did an excellent job in scoping out this program to focus only on one issue: freezing of gait. Besides being educational for both patients and caregivers, it provides practical techniques to counteract the negative aspects of Parkinson’s disease.”
“The program gave me an opportunity to talk and share with others who have the same symptom as I have. I feel more confident walking in my home. My spouse has also learned more about FOG.”
“Up until 2 hears ago I could walk quite well and then I started freezing at doorways and street lights and it kept getting worse and i was unsure what was happening initially. The 8 week guided FOG program provides an excellent overview on "what is happening ", identifying the triggers and providing some tools to help. It also provides a safe environment for folks to discuss their own circumstances and it is apparent that care varies significantly across the country. ”
“When I started the freezing of gait workshop) i was freezing all of the time and I was very frustrated. Haseel provided us with the tools that have helped me overcome or at least anticipate the freezing spots in my home and how to prevent a freeze. Also, I can get out of a freeze if it does happen fairly quickly. Haseel has created a great program!”
“It not only helped me get out of freezing, it also helped me recognize that I was freezing a lot more than I thought I was. The strategies that we learned are all helpful in different situations. ”
“We (my husband & I) found the videos in Chapter One summed up FOG concisely,. The subsequent chapters and videos heightened my awareness. The meetings confirmed that the symptoms I am experiencing are not unique.”
“This 8 weeks program is excellent for people suffering from Parkinson disease, who experience freezing - the sudden feeling of feet being glued to the floor and not able to move. It teaches how to deal with this problem in a few different ways and how to practice to improve the movements. After finishing this course I will continue practising what I have learned during the course. I feel much better that there is a way to deal with this situation. The instructor is very knowledgeable with the subject and helpful with explanation how to deal with the unlocking the movement and walking.”
Absolutely. We have designed this program specifically to be frustration-free. You will receive one specific link that works for every live session. You don't need to hunt for passwords. We are hosting a "Tech & Tea" drop-in session on January 29th just to make sure your audio and video work before the teaching begins. If you can click a link in an email, you can do this course.
Yes. You get to keep the workbook and will have 1 full year of access to the online video portal. Parkinson's is a condition that changes over time; we want you to be able to come back and re-watch the "Turning" or "Doorway" chapters whenever you need a refresher in the future.
For this specific Pilot Cohort starting February 2026, Parkinson Canada is generously covering the full tuition for selected participants. If you have been selected, you will be given a specific "Scholarship Code" to enter at checkout, which reduces the price to $0.00.
No. This is a strategy and self-management program. On your own time (Mondays): You will watch video demonstrations of movements and practice them safely in your own home environment. On the Live Zoom (Thursdays): We remain seated. We focus on reviewing the topic for the week - discussing challenges, insights and wins and reviewing your workbook logs.
We understand that life (and medical appointments) happens. We encourage live attendance to get the most out of the sessions.
Do I need a Care Partner to participate? A Care Partner (spouse, child, or friend) is highly encouraged to join as a full participant. We refer to Care Partners as "Movement Partners." You are not just there to watch; you are there to learn the cues, help set up the environment (like placing tape lines), and act as a co-pilot during the 8-week journey.
Don't wait to take control of your movement.
